Bridging the Gap” Summer Program is open to all interested students, whether they are currently enrolled in Cornerstone Academy - International Language Program or not. Students holding any type of visa (F1, J1, etc.) are welcome to register, as well as domestic students. During the day, there is a course for students at every level. The morning ESL program segment is geared primarily for beginning and lower intermediate level students. The afternoon Test Preparation courses are geared for students with intermediate and advanced levels of English.

In the ESL program, students will follow thematic weeks, covering everyday English topics such as shopping, animals, food, traveling, clothing, and several others. Academic readings from current events and writings, related to those topics and world issues, will be used to strengthen reading comprehension, academic writing, pronunciation, speaking, listening, and grammar skills. Therefore, students will have a comprehensive experience with English during this intensive program. Included in this program is the opportunity for students to embark on weekly field trips to various locations in the San Francisco area to practice the lessons they learn.

The Test Preparation courses will be held 4-days a week, with no class on Wednesdays to allow for studying and preparation for the practice test on material learned. (Optional practice materials are also available during this time for study.) Mondays and Tuesdays will encompass intensive lessons of specific vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing skills to prepare for the practice tests that will be given on Thursdays. Fridays will be a detailed lesson of reviewing the practice tests, focusing on test taking strategies for the specific tests of TOEFL, ACT, and SAT.
