What is unique about our multi-level classrooms and curriculum? It is dynamic and always evolving. The faculty chooses or writes curriculum based on students’ needs, interests, and current world issues. By using authentic materials, teachers organize topics around themes that relate to students’ lives, introduce American culture, and inform them about the world today. Teachers also incorporate into their curriculum a rich variety of learning strategies and activities that promote participation and interaction among all ages and levels.
Included in the ILP program are the following classes: ESL Writing, ESL Comprehension (Beginner / Intermediate Reading), ESL Advanced Reading, ESL Science, ESL History, and ESL Lab. Beginning and intermediate students are placed in our intensive English program which includes 4 to 5 ESL classes per day. Students of high-intermediate and advance levels have the opportunity of taking other content area courses such as Science and Social Studies. For students at higher levels, the director assists students in customizing their programs based on their proficiency and interests. In addition, all students will take a math class at their level and fine arts classes.
